On Wednesday April 30, 2003, hundreds of Iraqi demonstrators marched in the streets in Fallujah to protest against U.S. troops having killed 13 protestors the previous day at Fallujah's primary school. Up to 75 were wounded in the Tuesday assault.
On Wednesday hundreds of angry people hit the streets demanding an end to the U.S. occupation. A U.S. convoy opened fire on the demonstrators for the second time this week. Three people were killed, and a hospital administrator said 18 were wounded.
When the convoy of occupation troops arrived at the scene, Iraqi demonstrators threw stones at them. An occupation Army officer said soldiers in the convoy passing the demonstrators were shot at, and so returned fire... witnesses on the scene reported no gun fire except that of the U.S. soldiers (All photos - AP Hussein Malla)

In a perfect world, the Iraqi's could've done this to Sadam without our help, now they hate us, for trying to help fix what we started, while killing their children nonetheless, and profiting all the more. Those soldiers were scared I bet, but it doesn't justify firing on a protest. This is their land. Why do we keep forgetting. I can't wait till someone comes into your home and sits down and says I'm not leaving and I'll shoot you if you tell me too.

Simple and Daveman, I guess even we not very bright radicals can figure out what side you two birds would have been on if you were in Boston at the time of the Boston Massacre before the Revolution. Hell, those riff-raff got what was coming to them; besides, they should have known that you don't throw things at troops who have guns. Probably Lord Cornwallis would have given both of you loyal subjects jobs cleaning his boots and his chamber pot.

Probably some of those troops are glad to
be in Iraq because it will put off for a while
their indictments for sexual assault back
at Twentynine Palms or Camp Pendleton.

Your comparison of Iraq to the American Revolution is interesting...but why do you not want the Iraqis to have the same chance at freedom that we had?
As for your characterization of Marines as murderers and rapists, I have to tell you that "JAG" is fiction...it's not reality television.
You really do need to get out of the house more.

Boston Massacre??
There's HUGE difference between people trying to throw off the chains of tyranny
and become independent and a people attacking those who helped free them
from tyranny. If a very small number of Iraqi citizens haven't figured out that we're there
to help them stabalize after 30 years of Saddam and then we're outta there to leave them
to their own self-determination, maybe they need to have a little talk with Germany
and Japan and ask how the US troops in their country assisted them and how much
better things have been in their countries since post-WW2.

Pretty soon some mentally challenged officer will explain that "we had to destroy Baghdad in order to save it." In fact, they have already destroyed much of it.

Should you ever go to a job interview, a good question you'll likely need to ask them is if they ever press charges.

Wake up Meyer.
The line "we had to destroy the village in order to save it" is a myth.
It stems from an incident that occurred during the first Tet offesive in 1968. The soldier who was interviewed by the reporter was commenting on the attack on the town of Ben Tre, Vietnam. Ben Tre was attacked by the Viet Cong and largely destroyed in a 5 day battle.
The Viet Cong attacked the town and are thus responsible for it's destruction.
Oh, and the reporter who quoted the "unnamed U.S. Major"?
Peter Arnett.

I doubt that Arnett would agree that it is a myth. Sorry about the out of the gene pool remark, though - that was going way too far even for a reactionary. It seemed irresistable at the time, though.

Meyer, don't worry about it.
It's a relatively mild suggestion compared to much of what I've seen around here - and you can't blame a man for scoring a zinger when he's got the chance.
