Whenever we hear about sexual predators in our society we, desire to take action and hunt them, bring them to justice and get them off the streets. On the news often we hear of rings of such people getting busted. Sometimes it's the internet and child pornographers, etc. Sometimes it's closer to home. Either way, we're glad they're busted, exposed and off the streets. We consider that a high priority for law enforcement, wouldn't you agree? The safety, welfare and protection of our kids comes first and foremost, prior to anything else. We feel it in the pit of our stomachs, instinctively, whether we have kids or we don't, we must make them safe.

There are all kinds of reasons that people call upon their God for help. Often the best are for those inner reasons that are needed to help us with personal matters like work, our children, our loved ones, our health and the many basic decent things in life that from time to time can benefit from a little blind faith. We don't all believe in a God or a higher power and more and more of us believe this is about it, feeling you're born, you die - that's a that. Though many believe it's just an “opiate for the masses,” I feel that just because I don't believe in another's view, there is no harm, and in fact I've personally seen how it can be very helpful to people struggling with things like addictions, etc, though I never had that issue myself.

When I was a student at the University of Connecticut between the years of 2003 and 2006 I had the opportunity to view an aspect of the way our tax dollars get spent up close and personal. I saw this, though I wasn't meant to, and the way things were to unfold, there certainly couldn't have been any script, none that got adhered to anyway. Like anyone else, I got upset about certain things I was to see with regards to where my tax dollars went from time to time if I saw something on the news. Up until that point though, it was never enough to pinpoint one specific thing and connect it to tax dollars. But while at the University of Connecticut, I learned just how our dollars can be burned up uselessly without a care and how people on the taxpayer dime can take advantage of the system, responsibility, position and money they've been granted.

The notions that we need to be more aware of how our tax dollars are spent and that we should have more power and control over expenditures where taxes are concerned, have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is especially true since the onset of the recession and the disastrous dual wars that were, up until just recently, paid for out of taxes despite the fact Iraq turned out to be such a billion dollar mess. The idea we shouldn't spend willy nilly and should have more accountability makes sense and one wonders what caused us to so easily take our eye off the ball regarding this. It's regarded as a Republican or conservative value, but Democrats have been incensed by the way stimulus dollars were doled out and are just as concerned about financial accountability, though they may have different ideas about how the money gets spent.

At least 20 people are dead and many are injured on the lead ship of the Gaza Humanitarian Aid flotilla after the Israeli military, paid for with US tax dollars, boarded and attacked the unarmed people. Death Penalty Democrat California Governor Gray Davis murders again, this time executing Robert Massie on March 27, 2001, who has been on and off Death Row for 36 years, courtesy us taxpayers. He was never rehabilitated, but was let out of prison, and thus killed again. Our tax dollars must go for rehabilitation, not punishment, if we are to solve any social problems at all.
